This recent interview of Martin Blaser by the Scientist is a great primer and will serve as good introduction/ update on the importance of protecting our friendly flora and the impact that the increased use of antibiotics may be having on our health and the well being of our microbiome. This interview was prompted by Dr. Blaser's recent comment in Nature (Vol 476, 393–394 (25 August 2011) doi:10.1038/476393a) entitled Stop Killing the Beneficial Bacteria.
