The Two Faces of Photorhabdus

The Small Things Considered blog has an interesting post on the insect pathogen Photorhabdus , the only land-based bacterium which carries out bioluminescence, and nematodes. What I found interesting is that the bacterium also infects wounds. From STC - "This is the stuff of legends, with stories going back to the American Civil War. It seemed that soldiers with wounds that glowed in the dark were more likely to recover."
