Tough Microbe Has The Right Stuff for Mars

Meet Methanosarcina barkeri... according to this article in Astrobiology Magazine (and they should know), it is the ultimate survivor microbe. Because it is so tough, and because it breathes methane, researchers are eyeing it a possible extraterrestrial bacteria and possibly responsible for the methane detected in the Martian atmosphere.
