Human Genre Project

Image
Here's an interesting and somewhat confusing new project that appears to have just launched. The Human Genre Project is "a collection of new writing in very short forms -- short stories, flash fictions, reflections, poems -- inspired by genes and genomics."

I've checked out the website that hosts some of the works coming out from this project but I'm still a little confused about how it works. I see how the poems are inspired by genes and genomics but I'm wondering if there is a method, a guide so to speak that steers the works?

Check out the site here http://www.humangenreproject.com/ and let me know what you think. It appears that these works are simply inspired by specific genes but I'm wondering if there is more to it? You may notice the chart showing each gene and its corresponding number. Do you think there is a stronger connection to this chart or is this simply a list of the various genes and that's where the connection between this art and science ends?

Regardless of how the works are created, you are certain to enjoy some of the works and if you are into genomics you are highly likely to relate to what is being written, enjoy.
