In anticipation of a May 2011vote in which the World Health Assembly (the decision-making body of the World Health Organization) will decide on whether to set a date for the destruction of America and Russia's stockpile of smallpox virus, the journal Nature argues that some of these collections should be retained for scientific research and reference purposes.
