Now that I am in Southern California, I am glad to see that we also have a local ASM branch (SCASM) that is very active in bringing together our scientific community. That’s why I want to encourage all our of readers and customers who are from the Southern California region to attend this membership drive event hosted by our local branch on Saturday, September 18th at the Stuart Cellars Winery from 11 am- 2 pm.
The event will include wine tasting, appetizers, and a winery tour. The cost is only $20 per member and if you bring a new member, the event is free for you and the new member. Non-member guests are $30.
If you work in Southern California and are interested in joining your local ASM branch and meeting new microbiologists from around our area, check out this fun event and learn what your local ASM has to offer your lab and your students in their personal development as scientists.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Mickey Amos (amosmickey at sbcglobal.net) and if paying by check, make the check out to SCASM.
For many labs where funding to send students to the annual meeting is limited or when extensive travel away from home is not always possible, your local ASM provides an excellent venue for getting your science out to the public and networking with your colleagues all within driving distance. This is a great chance to meet members and find out more about the upcoming meeting in November in La Jolla. Hope you can make it!
Directions to the winery are below and also can be found at the www.scasm.org website.
