When I worked in vet medicine, it was amongst the few diseases that everyone - doctors, clients, support staff, human law enforcement officers, etc. - knew & feared. Maybe it was it's nearly undefeated record & lethal reputation that drove such caution. After all, since scientific study of the disease began, only 4 people (the first being a teenager who spent nearly a week in a medically induced coma) have survived infection.
