Science and Knitting?

The Manchester Science Festival 2009 is hosting "The Big Microbe Knit." A day of creativity, knitting micro-organisms such as swine flu, salmonella and the common cold. Learn about the microbes we encounter in our everyday lives and some of the more uncommon ones.

But if you can't make it to The Big Microbe Knit event between Oct. 24 - Nov. 1, 2009, the people at Manchester Science Festival dot com were nice enough to include a detailed, full color PDF (click on "source" above to get the PDF) that includes the patterns for knitting your very own Tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), Cholera (Vibrio cholerae), Penicillium and more!

Check out the patterns, attend the festival if possible and be sure to follow up at their flickr group ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/mcrscifest/ ) for great photos of all the wonderful things going on at the festival. Also if you end up knitting your very own microbe, take a picture and submit it to the flickr group as well as here at MicrobeWorld.org, we'd love to see what you have created!
