Movie Aims to Inspire College Students With Tales of Successful Minority Scientists

A student produced documentary, "Roots to Stem: Spelman Women in Science, profiles the careers of African American female scientists.

Even though there is an increasing rate of African American women in science undergraduate sciences classes, the number of these women actually entering into science as a profession is still rare in most fields.

The film takes a look at how a few different women were able to succeed in their careers as scientists and seeks to promote these women as role models to show other women how to enter into and succeed in a science career.

Here are two excerpts from the film which feature two of the nine women profiled in the documentary.
