Inhibiting Dengue Virus Capping Enzyme- ASM Global Video Challenge

The Geiss Lab at Colorado State University is dedicated to finding ways to prevent or inhibit dengue virus (flavivirus) infection. Dengue virus causes significant worldwide suffering and death, and there are no drugs or treatment options currently available. We are investigating the viral capping enzyme in order to better understand its function and identify ways to stop it from capping the viral RNA. If the RNAs are not capped, translation can't occur and the RNA will be degraded, disabling the virus from replicating, and stopping infection. A way to stop dengue infection is severely needed to make the world a better and safer place. Our work is aiming to accomplish this significant task.
